Try http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/

You can set a calorie net goal you would like (so no more than 1200 calories net, for example) and then based on what you consume (eat) and how much you burn (exercise), you will have that net amount. It is free when using on computer AND you can purchase an application for only a few bucks. I really like it!

I don't know if that is such a good idea. I know it wouldn't work for me to have my BF do it. He knows what I weigh (he was with me at heaviest) so it isn't that but it is personal you know what I mean? I get defensive in a nano second so it would not be pretty.

What I did was allow myself three meals and two snacks in a day. I sometimes had dessert, but it was only a 45 calorie fat-free fudgecicle or a square of dark chocolate. If you have already had your two snacks for the day, you don't get more! DONE. Drink tea or water if you are still hungry.

It went something like this:

Kashi Cereal w/ 1% milk (tried to follow portion on the box -1 cup with 1/2 C milk- being over-generous with the cereal is easy to do, and those calories add up!)
Snack- carrot sticks or grapes or yogurt, or sliced bell peppers

Lunch- I'm bad and had nutribars- like slim-fast bars (lazy, lazy about bringing lunches!)

Snack- apple sauce and 8 or so almonds

Dinner- watched portion sizes, tried to eat more veggies, and a salad with every meal and ate only until I felt no longer hungry- tried to avoid feeling FULL (really shrunk my stomach this way, and soon I COULDN'T a lot of food before feeling like I was getting full). Often this meant saying no to another fajita or a piece of bread- definitely no second helpings!

Didn't eat after dinner. Drank two cups of green or herbal tea to curb hunger. Th

I really didn't think of myself as on a "diet"- just tried to make healthy food choices (just ignore those terrible nutribars) and watched my portions. I didn't feel like I was depriving myself, really. Just not snacking on junk like I used to, or eating the same amount as my 6'5 hubby (YIKES). But if there was a b-day, I'd have cake- just a small piece. It's not about denying yourself everything, but eating in moderation, and avoiding putting junk and processed crap in your body on a regular basis. Ya know? :)

You can do it!

As for hubby doing the weigh-in, it could work as long as you won't feel he is nagging you to do it if you are reluctant. I told my hubby to tell me if I was "automatic eating" or if I seemed to get lazy about exercise. Then when he did, I'd feel all defensive. Oy, that man is a saint for putting up with me!
Then I exercised 1/2 hr 6 days a week or so. Et viola! Lost 55 lbs in 9 months. :)
